Many years ago we had a guy who had open heart surgery with multiple bypass done.. Met him in our scuba diving club. He got certified as a scuba diver in one of the classes the club held. Golly that has been 40 years ago. I think he had been a year or two out of surgery.

I'm sure the procedures are even better now.
