FWIW we deliberatly use a wide front tractor wide enough to straddle the windrow.
Probably saved a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of hay leaves in the last 50 years and I am not exaggerating.
Stupidest thing ever made is a hay rake with tires on the front as far as I am concerned.
The wheels go on the front of the tractor. Nobody is driving on alfalfa windrows.
You want to put that on a narrow front? They aren't super stable to begin with then you want to have all that hanging way off the side?
