N FLA
I heard it bought us a year without screw worm compared to the model data.

From a simple perspective, cows have about 200 flies on them
I think that's 200 flies per animal that were not being moved with the cattle. If you think the flies move independently of cattle, I guess it would be different. But I know when I haul cattle the flies go with them.

I don't think we know the long game of what we are up against. It took 40 years to eradicate to panama. A couple years to rid the southeast US. A half dozen in the SW US. Dozens to eradicate mexico.

I was in Costa Rica and screwworm was described as being commonly observed. So I think there are areas that have years of fly buildup.

Although it doesn't sound like we spent the last year getting facilities ready to produce sterile flies. I think the efforts are much easier with a lower level of flies to contend with.

I guess the question on my mind, if it takes a dozen years to eradicate Mexico, how does the animal movement across the border look for all that time?
