SE SD | I think you are are right, but it depends on which part of the country you are in, i think the guys in Texas will hurt the worse because mexico will just feed out the cattle they have enstead of shipping them over the boarder, from what i was reading before its a little over a million head a yr so whether texas feeds them or mexico feeds them to fats and processes them i see it affecting guys up north less then down south. the things that need to get figured out is the govt needs to push country of origin labeling, but if they open the boarder and ship live over when do they switch over to usa meat 30 days 90 days?
Mexico is supposed to double their imports on package beef in the next yr but that still doesnt put a huge dent in the demand, down their the beef price dropped because they have to much, long term i would be interested in how well they can feed out cattle and handle the volume but in my opinion northern farmers and ranchers will feel less then the Texas guy, unfortanly some of them will be out of business | |
