Wow, there is no way I would take a POS shoe leather piece of venison over a steak or even a hamburger from a well fed fat steer...............
The current generation of hunters are majority POS.................like others have mentioned, only out for the rack, and in the mean time the population is blowing up. When I was a kid the population here was sparce, which was great, we could grow row crops on mountain ground and they weren't completely destroyed by harvest, now farming the same ground in hay and you show up right after dusk and drive in with the pickup and all you have is eye balls looking at you, there is no way any row crops would last the length of the growing season now. And when hunting season does come, the Deer all move into developed areas with houses and hide out so nobody gets them anyhow. There is a few who try to get a handle on the problem, but like me for example, asked the one landlord of a rented farm if my wife/son could hunt to get a few of them, sure he said.............My wife likes to hunt out of a cheesey blind, kid likes a tree stand...............Neighbor to the place drove in, stole the stuff, was seen doing it by others, and I told the owner and he said, "Well, that happens" and walked away...............So that ended up that for us, no hunting there now.
Well, I like my steak. That said, tenderized venizon backstrap chicken fried and white gravy poured over top is miiiiiigghhtttyyyy hard to beat. Boy howdy that’s some kinda good eatin right there,,, |
