Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I haven't done exactly what you are describing but it is possible to "bring back" a previous map for certain combinations of events.
For example, when planting a field of soybeans beside a previously planted corn field, it is possible to bring back the corn field for reference. In my case this was with the same planter, modules etc.
As you mention, you would not necessarily have the modules present from the previous situation when doing this. I'm not sure what would happen with that combination of events. I believe you would need some type of configuration present. I'm not certain if the present configuration would need to match the previous configuration that you wish to see. I suppose you could try a Tillage or Planting configuration since these do not require modules.
I have used some trickery when marking tile lines where I setup a fake planter and as I drive over the new tile lines, I turn ON/OFF mapping with the screen icon. By using a fake planter configuration, I am able to pick a crop not grown here such as peanuts and name the "varieties" with tile sizes such as 8", 10", Main etc. These lines are then in different colors. The map can be printed on paper etc.
Possibly some trickery such as this would be possible for your situation.
