Comparing this to Reagans time is laughable. Admittedly the farm economy was hurt by high interest rates but it had to happen to bring down inflation.

The cold war was won with the threat of force and low cost of human capital, not lobbing missles at 25 ft boats. Economically 19 million jobs created and the middle class made big gains. Its all documented.

Contrast to today where data centers supporting job-robbing AI seems like a losing trend.
