Much of my pasture looks like your picture. It's of little use for grazing, causes eye problems and not much nutrition once it goes to seed. Needs to be.mowed. I was out of town during a very warm spell and the grass went to seed early. Just need to mow it when i get a day between storms.

The ideal is put them in a paddock when grass is 10" high (leafy but not gone to seed) and out at 4" high to leave leaf area to recover. Usually  about 30 days to regrow and graze again. Easier said than done though especially this year. Either have too many cows over the winter or too few this time of year when the grass is growing rapidly.

Lota wisdom in this post!! Yoy young uns outa pay attention!
