"The best diet for a previous diabetic not using insulin is a balanced, whole-food approach that stabilizes blood sugar and improves insulin sensitivity, such as the Mediterranean diet. "
That first paragraph in your link is complete BS based on my personal experience. You do what you want. I figured out conventional wisdom was incorrect over 7 years ago, reversed my type 2 diabetes, got off insulin, diabetic medicine and blood pressure medicine. By doing a low carb ketogenic diet.
I'm on an Alaskan cruise right now. A good friend of my wife's who is a nurse has followed what has been "recommended". She has part of her foot cut off twice. She is in bad health and can barely walk. Does not get off the ship at ports.
I'm going to follow her lead and end up like her? She is a trained professional and informed me she also had nutrition training. She also has scoffed at a ketogenic diet about 7 years ago when I told her of my results. I see first hand the difference it has made in the last 7 years between her and I.
Thanks for giving me the chance to share my story. Others will have to choose their own path. I've chosen mine.
Pulling out of Port soon and no Internet again.
Edit: I've done what the medical community says can't be done. I reversed my type 2 diabetes. Not cured, but reversed. By eating a low carb ketogenic diet. I'm going to listen to my body and my real results instead of their advice that kept me diabetic for over 30 years.
