For me, the heads will look dry. So, you pull a sample and the berries in your sample are around 14%. You get fired up and run the combine out there and cut 50 bu because you don’t trust the monitor that says 18-20%. Take into coop, test 20%…..

The humidity kicks up for the next 5-7 days so the oats don’t really “dry”.

Hence, my 2 weeks. In reality, it’s probably the little tiny berries at the base of the head that carry the moisture.
