Subject: RE: Growing different cover crops for seed

East Central Arkansas
Someone getting paid to farm it, feed the wildlife and if they make any crop that's just extra. Sometimes it takes the deer a year or two to get used to eating new crops especially if other foods they are used to eating. On our farm where we are close to a lot of woodland and the White River Refuge early a Fall the deer often leave for the woods to eat acorns. About the end of regular gun season they normally start coming back to the fields.
On eating different crops. Years ago we never would see deer damaging the cotton plants from eating the small plants but now you will see some damage.
Years ago I was raising some small patches of sweet potatoes and never noticed deer eating them. Now folks haul tons of them to feed the deer.
