West Central Iowa
I have been 20's since 2010, used 25 wave coulter, lots of years it laid a lot of the beans in the residue, but they end up growing when it rains later. Stands end up good in the end.

Last year I planted with the openers only, it planted the beans under the residue very well, placement was much better than I thought. I ended up with very good stands.

This year I got a new planter with clean sweep and yetter row cleaners, the adjustability and residue management was excellent.
I thought I might have erosion problems where I planted downhill.
A week after planting the residue had covered the row again, so my thought of the beans getting started quicker didn't work, but seed placement was good and I got good stands.

My problem with what I did this year is the stock Case planter closing system can have sidewall compaction in hard or damp soils, which we had this year. I am going to try something different for the closing discs on the Case. Fwiw, pretty much every planter struggled this year on the marginal soils.
