Kingston,Mi
Many years ago (1950's) our neighbor was sitting on a 5 gallon milk can in his red and black checkered hunting clothes, along side of the highway. Had his rifle and a gym bag with him. When dad saw a couple of weeks later he ask what had happened, Nate replied that a hunter headed for the Upper Peninsula had stopped and ask what was in the milk can and Nate replied "Hard Cider". He was invited to their hunting camp. At the end of the hunt they dropped him off back at his house with what ever venison he had.

Definitely a low cost hunt compared to todays hunters. One farm I lease out to a hunter and his party, they normally take around 10 deer from 40 acres of crop and woods, they have many tree stands , ground blinds and are generally respectful. On my home farm the neighbor, his son and several of the grand children, have several tree stands, a trailer mounted deer blind with heat and a "deer castle' with a small deck and of course heat. In the 30 plus years that they have had hunting privileges they have only harvested 1 or 2 deer. See plenty of deer, but none are sufficiently "impressive".
