| None of my soybeans hit the river system so I'm no expert. Do you think that perhaps those who do rely on the river system to market their soybeans benefit from the river dredging? I have no idea what the roi is for helping fund a project like that. I do know that if the river terminals had to pay, basis would reflect that, which would lower competition in the inland markets as well. It seems to me that a decent argument could be made that helping fund a river dredging project would increase market access for soybeans, which is the point of the checkoff, right?
Yes, other entities also benefit from river dredging, which is why they are typically partnerships with several sources of funding. | |
