I went to an investor meeting for a plant that wanted to start up. I asked about what their future distribution system was gonna look like. I was told by one of their blab guys, that petroleum and ethanol would coexist efficiently. It was going to be welcome by the petroleum distributors with open arms. Needless to say, my checkbook stayed in my pocket.
This was around 2002 to 2003. Detroit was starting to embrace flex fuel vehicles, and the ethanol boys thought they had already made the touchdown.
Idk what specific plant you were looking at investing in but concerning ethanol investments in general, you made a mistake by not getting in.
Other than some poorly managed plants, ethanol plants have been very profitable for the guys that got in 25 years ago.
