SE Washington | New or used? I'd definitely go used unless you're just trying to burn money. No harm in that either if it's your retirement rig. Lots of nice used ones for sale that people bought and didn't end up using like they would. That's how I buy ours. I know certain brands are supposed to be higher quality. They all end up needing work usually minor stuff a handy guy can repair but serious issues aren't uncommon either. Many people don't have an idea what they want, buy one and after a couple years seeing what everyone has at the campground they form an idea of what they really want, then trade it in on a big loss. Go to an rv show or dealer and walk through as many layouts as you can to figure out what you want. I've had a couple fifth wheels, I prefer the living arrangements. Common nicer models include the Keystone Montana, Jayco Pinnacle, Grand Design. It's kind of a like cars, most manufactures have their cheaper models and then their premium models.
