Got a baler for sale. Some want to pay with Zelle. Never heard of it and don’t ever take payment from these types. Baler needs work and less questions about what’s wrong with it and more questions about if i take Zelle Says scam too me ??

Zelle is legit, but there are several ways to get scammed. Here are the most common scams according to chatgtp:

Zelle itself is a legitimate payment service, but it is frequently used in scams because transfers are typically fast and difficult to reverse once sent. Common ways scammers use Zelle include:

1. Fake Buyer Scam

You're selling something online. The "buyer" sends a fake email claiming you've received payment or need to upgrade to a business account by sending money back. The email looks like it's from Zelle but isn't.

Red flag: Zelle does not require sellers to send money to receive money.

2. Fake Bank Fraud Alert

You receive a text or call claiming to be from your bank about suspicious activity. The scammer convinces you to send money via Zelle to a "safe account" that they actually control.

Red flag: Banks do not tell customers to move money to another account to stop fraud.

3. Overpayment Scam

Someone sends a fake payment confirmation for more than the agreed amount and asks you to refund the difference.

Red flag: Verify money is actually in your bank account before refunding anything.

4. Impersonation Scam

A scammer pretends to be a family member, friend, contractor, or government agency and pressures you to send money immediately.

Red flag: Verify through a known phone number before sending money.

5. Rental and Marketplace Scams

A scammer advertises a house, apartment, vehicle, or farm equipment that doesn't exist and asks for a deposit via Zelle.

Red flag: Be cautious about sending deposits before seeing the item or property.

6. Account Takeover

A scammer tricks you into giving them a verification code from your bank or Zelle account, then links your account to their device.

Red flag: Never share one-time security codes with anyone.
