| Northern Indiana, it normally takes three to four weeks to finish first cutting here in between rain events. We knocked it all down and had it in the barn in ten days. Out most mature field might have had five percent bloom. We averaged 2.6 ton/acre last year and 2.4 this years and we're were two weeks shorter on growing days compared to last year. We should have an excellent second cutting, we had good ground moisture and just got at least an inch on every field. The biggest issue was stuff drying to fast, we humidity in the 20s with wind. Some nights we didn't get enough dew and then some nights the dew would drop too fast, good problem to have though. | |
