Subject: Anyone direct seed seedless watermelons

Going to direct seed seedless watermelons for the first time this week. Going to till, plant then apply prefar for pre-emergant. Tried it on some hand planted for a trail and did pretty good on germination.

What pre emergents are yall using and how?

Also probably going to set seed spacing for 24" on seedless then have my other row unit 12" apart with seeded melons every 84". I anticipate the seedless to have less germination and my seeded ti be near 100%

Thoughts? How deep do yall plant? Been doing about 1 inch hand planted on tests the past weeks but just wondering.

Somehow, and I dont know why, my direct seeded seedless melons have better germination rate than anything i did in the greenhouse for transplants. And i tried many different tips and tricks.
