Not being a stock market guy I find a 5% drop barely noteworthy. I mean it has tripled in 5 years, if it was a 50% drop I’d be interested. If corn went from $4 to $12 then lost $.60 in a day I wouldn’t lose much sleep over it. Well, any market move in excess of 2% in one day is out of norm. Would you lose sleep today if corn dropped 22 cents in one day, or would that also be barely noteworthy? Whether you choose to acknowledge or not, your choice, but 1659 points is a jaw dropping one day decline. A record point loss by about 500 points.
