Please tell me more about these guys that had 2-3 years of crops on hand and cashed in.
Doubt you cd give names and locations.
1. NOONE has that kind of storage.
Or did they farm 250 acres?
2. If they had 3 years of crops on hand after paying 3 years storage, how did that work out on the bottom line.

I agree with your post but about 1997 I actually heard about an old guy in Stevens Point, Wi that ran over 500 acres with dozens of old tractors. He stored 5 years of crops and swore he would not sell any of it until corn hit $5 and then he was going to sell the corn and retire. It hit $5 and he started hauling every day all summer long.
By a freak accident I ended up in Stevens Point and everyone was shaking their head and laughing because his plan was working. I actually saw him hauling corn out of an old shed he rented right in town with an old single axle Chev truck! He had enough of cheap prices and this was his marketing strategy...
