Subject: Hole or Sink Hole

Today I was running my Bobcat along a creek putting fence posts in. I had gone back and forth along the creek for several times. I stayed about 20-30 feet away from the creek, but when I started pushing in the steel T posts, I drove further away from the creek, like about an additional 20-25 feet, on level ground with no trees around and the right front tire sunk about 2 feet (measured with my tape measure). I thought the skid loader was going to roll over on its side but it didn't. I lowered the post driver to lift the wheel, and used it like a bucket to push the loader backwards out of the hole. I marked the hole with a couple T posts and when I stuck them in by hand it felt like the posts were going to sink further, I ended up shoving them in about 6-8 inches by just giving them a shove into the hole. We have some rough ground in our pasture and I'm used to being careful on slopes and near ravines, especially after a rain, but this took me totally by surprise. I'm thinking I should avoid that area and possibly see about filling it in carefully because at this point I have no idea if its just a little hole or a larger one. I'm just curious if anyone else has run into something like that.
