| Im looking for advice on updating planters. I currently have a JD7200 planter 12r30. I have only used to plant corn for the last 3 years. I have a 5400 IH drill on cart set for 15" rows on beans. I am considering upgrading to a 12/23 vacuum planter to be able to cover ground quicker. Tractor is 2014 7200R, programmed to 240hp. I want to stay with Deere as I have several dealers within 1 hour of me. I have a few questions below.
1- Whats a good price range for a used planter?
2- What are the watch outs when looking at a planter?
3- Do I have enough tractor to pull a 12/23?
4- Currently put 2x2 fert down when I plant corn, outside of putting tanks on, whats the recommendation for applying starter at planting?
5- What do I not know, to ask?
Im located in upstate of SC. I've got some hills i farm, but most ground is relatively flat for my area. | |
