As a dairy farmer I can say that earlage feeds better than straight corn. My dad always said there was something about feeding ground ear corn that you won't get with straight corn.

But like you said, you'll need more roughage to feed with it. I'd imagine pricing would be very similar to straight corn. Maybe slightly higher since you are taking the cob.

It depends on what you have available. Like the other poster said, cow calf, silage might be better.
