I don't know where the X price of corn thing came from.
This is how I do it.

Crop insurance Silage Appraisel X local price X .9(corn silage appraisal is usually a bit high) and if you chop, the farmer has no harvest cost.

I chop some for myself, and sell 120 acres of irrigated. I also get manure from the feedlot they apply which reduces my fertilizer cost and gets some cover on the soil.

Yes I could make more money binning the corn and selling when the basis is better but the copious amounts of manure is worth some serious dollars as well.

Everyone is Happy with this agreement, and Everyone feels thy could make a bit more doing something different.

Drought might change things beings this is a 1 time thing and not a long term relationship.
