IN | Got chance to look over the 26 Corn plot yesterday. One of the last fields we planted so corn is a bit shorter than most of you have. Planted at a target of 35k into a stale seedbed. Worked the field earlier this summer to plant the rest of it and decided not to rework it and just plant stale. Have entries from Dekalb, GDM, Agrigold, Brevant, Pioneer, Channel, and two short corn hybrids from the Preceon line up.
Looking forward to see how the Preceon hybrids stack up against the rest. There’s some heavy hitters to go up against including Pioneer 13777, Brevant 13C49, Dekalb 68-35, Agrigold 642-32, and others as well. I have 36-37 entries into the plot. A few new Pioneer numbers that are supposed to replace some older hybrids, a few Channel numbers that should be good. I’ve never planted Channel corn so I’m not sure how it will compare to sister Dekalb.
I’ll attach pictures of the two short corn hybrids as well as one hybrid from Brevant that has stood out from the rest on emergence and early vigor on red knolls and lighter white ground. I can update with a full list of hybrids if anyone wants to see what’s in the plot.
