| There are some that have pattern tiled ground and strip til. If their strips are done in the fall and the ground is fit, they can roll out of bed on April 12th and put in 500 acres a day. Or they might have a squadron of diggers tickling the ground ahead of a 36 and 24 row planter. However some of these big shots have been burned by early planting, and wait till end of April, maybe a crew planting beans same time as corn, it seems everybody was done around here by the 12th of May this year for most part.
It`s hard to tell if a bean field was planted the 12th of May or 12th of April, they are all roughly the same size. IMO I would take planting corn by the 10th of May every year, but sometimes if you don`t plant the 25th of April, you`ll be forced to mud it in the 25th of May .... or June. In this part of country ncIA everything was planted for maximum yield advantage for the conditions. Last year we got it in early but in June it rained +3" every week, only drying out before harvest | |
