I don't have a lot of experience with trucks but on 3 of the four trucks I've owned/own I've replaced the shocks.  The first one was absolutely night and day improvement.  At times I couldn't' keep the accelerator steady because it bounced so much.  Not a problem after new shocks.  The last one I did was my 2014 KW T680.  I did it in 2023.  It is much better on washboard gravel roads now.  I've changed them on pickups too after a mechanic said they were fine with substantial improvements in ride and handling.
