| Our family sold seed corn when I was a kid. I remember we had what seemed like hundreds of planter plates, both for corn & soybeans. When a customer bought seed from us we would provide the appropriate plates . Plates depended on seed size & make of planter. Bean plates also varied by seed size. At times a customer would have to wait until another customer was done & brought their before he could plant a particular variety. plates back. Some of the larger farmers owned their own plates but we furnished most. Originally plates were steel but in later years they were made from plastic. | |
