Ethanol refineries are maxed out. Adding capacity is essentially building a new plant. Without stable demand, that can be financial suicide.
First off existing bio refineries can operate above nameplate capacity.. Last week's EIA grind was probably 5% below nameplate.. plus the industry is already expanding with about 200 million gallons of announced capacity coming already.
Margins are robust almost double capital costs since the Strait was closed.
Crude Oil is 50% higher
Distillate especially Kerosene or Jet Fuel is about 65% higher
Gasoline is about 50% higher
While Grains are flat since the Operation Epic Fury started.
Ethanol exports are also good but trendline yields continue to march upward.
The spread between between ethanol free and e 15 remains significant in many places around $1.50 per gallon offering significant value to the consumer..
Furthermore the Trump administration has promised increased access for E 15 for the past decade.. since his first time.
Progress has been made but E 15 legislation has yet to be completed as promised clear back in 2016.
Its time to act.
