Dad always preached seed needs to be in moisture!
I’m in the “thumb” of Michigan, a few years ago we had to drive to the west/middle of the state for combine parts.

As we got closer to the dealership we started to notice acres and acres of very poor stands of soybeans. This literally went on for miles.
I asked the parts man at the dealership what’s up with all the poor soybeans?
He proclaimed those operators just plant, they don’t check depth/moisture.
I thought to myself if I had 10 acres that looked like that I’d be sick, this was several hundred acres
