Yep i have done same thing they come up.... from just under ground to 3.5 inches they will come.. when i was a kid maybe was 88 i remember my dad an his cousin looking at a neighbors beans in the blow sand said was planted an we couldnt find seed he said keep going they were 6 inches deep dad said no way they coming up... they did take awhile though....
