North Central Indiana | Don’t mind the tariffs. I still don’t quite understand the heartburn over them. Every country utilizes tariffs, why can’t we? You get opponents saying they don’t work or are a tax on citizens. Every other country in the world is just dumb then? I suppose that’s possible. But it was used as leverage and has gained some more favorable trade setups for us if you actually read the agreements. Maybe they aren’t honored in the future, but hard to hold that against the guy for trying instead of just bumbling around talking about trans rights and coconut trees like his opponent. Weaponizing the DOJ? If we can’t be honest and say the system was used as a weapon against Trump before he was elected then we don’t need to continue the conversation. He told them what would happen if they weaponized it against him or others, they did anyway, the people voted for him knowing what he promised. Starting wars? Every president always. Also to call Iran a war is a bit of a stretch imo. Ballroom that is funded privately? I do not care a single iota. Doesn’t affect me either way and will be useful for all presidents going forward, not like he can take it with him in 2 years. Pardons are bs and no president should have that power, let’s toss Hunter Biden in jail tomorrow and you can start using that argument. The IRS is a bloated and wasteful arm of the government. Software could accomplish the job if desired and just send everyone the bill. Lowering of inflation? Yeah I’m in support of that… not sure who’s in support of more inflation. DOGE was disappointing, I had high hopes and was also one of the reasons I wanted him over Kamala. But even saving billions seems like a good start. Maybe you don’t think so?
All of this can be summed up in that he wasn’t able to get as much progress as he had promised so you’re saying it’s all worthless. That’s the exact problem with our government. Don’t rock the boat because it won’t ever get all of the fraud or wasteful spending or the absolute best trade deal possible is just lazy. Small improvements are still improvements. Am I concerned about China as a trade partner? No, not largely. They’ll keep buying grain because we buy enormous amounts of cheap junk from them. I’d like to see some progress made with India and Central America to increase exports that way as well.
I maintain tha a moderate democrat would’ve been a slam dunk in any election since 2016 but they haven’t gone that way so we got the nominees (or appointments in the DNCs case) that we did
