I got pulled over going through Tulsa on a busy 3-lane interstate because the 102" wide trailer I was pulling had a tire "touch the outside white lane line".  He said he had to pull me over because it was dangerous to "fail to maintain the lane", all the while we are sitting stopped on the shoulder of the freeway.  I doubt very much that my trailer tire did touch the white line, but the side of the road is not the place to argue that point with the LEO.

I accepted and paid a for bogus seat belt violation ~25 years ago for that reason.    I was young and the Iowa State Patrol officer seemed like he was crabby anyway.

I was wearing the seatbelt, he just couldn't see it when he met me because my car had gray seatbelts and I was wearing a gray shirt.     I just figured if I argued about the seatbelt I'd be getting a speeding ticket instead, which is a moving violation and goes on your record for insurance.

Now that I'm as old or older than a lot of the officers you meet on the road, I'd probably argue more (I'd probably ask to see proof on his dash cam), which still probably isn't a good idea.
