About 50 some years ago I was on a date with my future ex wife. We decided to have a picnic near a stream called Center Creek over in SW Missouri. Laid out our blanket on the grass, sat down and started getting food out. All of the sudden had a flood of ticks crawling from the edge of the blanket towards the center and every which direction.
I've never seen so many ticks either before or after that episode. Had been to that creek to swim many times. Conditions that year must have been perfect for a tick hatch. We got out of there in a hurry.
