Subject: 300 bushel corn

The greatest miracle in agriculture isn't 300-bushel corn. It's the ability to cash a government check with one hand while pointing at somebody else and yelling "socialist" with the other. It's the mental gymnastics required to believe your government check is capitalism and everyone else's is socialism. As seen in the threads below. The richest thing on earth is a farmer calling somebody a socialist while operating a business model so intertwined with federal programs that removing washington for one season would turn "keep the government out of my business" into the shortest lived slogan in rural history. I have cashed way more welfare checks under this administration than I did under the previous. I received much better prices for my crops under the previous administration than I did under the current administration. Both are facts that can be proven objectively for nearly all corn and soy operations. The 4 years aren't over yet but I'm beginning to think ive seen more inflation under this admin now than the previous.

Also...When federal programs pay a uniform per acre amount across regions farmers in lower valued land markets receive a subsidy that represents a larger percentage of their land value and a larger percentage of their operating investment than farmers in high-valued land markets.

That's an economic claim that can be analyzed and defended.

So it is not only ironic it is just absurd when farmers from fringe states (dakotas etc) come on here screaming /calling others socialists. Farmers are all welfare recipients but those of you from fringe states are truly the welfare queens of agriculture. Fringe states are the welfare queens complete with obama phone and subsidized housing...where I staters just have their kids on free hot lunch (like alot of high net worth farmers i know do) A welfare queen might get assistance for groceries. Some of these guys have government programs helping insure their crops, stabilize their prices, subsidize their conservation practices, expand their export markets, guarantee their loans, and occasionally send emergency funny money checks when things go sideways or checks just show up for no reason at all.

That's an economic claim that can be analyzed and defended.

But yeah lets hear the guys from dakotas and fringe states start screaming into their echo chamber about how trump is a master deal maker and negotiator and how socialists are democrats or democrats or socialists. At this point all you can hear is your own voice.

Can we once and for all stop with the socialism talk? Farmers are not self reliant independent businessmen. No throwing shade on anyone on the govt teat here anymore.
