I just bought a modern air rifle with a scope and silencer. I can shoot starlings off the bird feeder from an upstairs bedroom without the wife knowing about it downstairs.
These new air rifles are powerful and accurate. Mine is a Hatsan .177 model 95. New, I paid $125 all together. They come in .22 and .25.
