The way it was explained to me is that nerves in the ear act as a sort of map of the brain. By isolating the nerve responsible the brain is able to disregard the alpha-gal and not consider it a threat, thus the immune system is not activated. I was skeptical at first until it was done and that is how it was kind of explained to me. They had me hold some kind of metal object that was hooked to a machine that they would put different viles of allergens in and not sure after that but from there they had a device that they went around my ear and marked spots for needles to go. After going into aniphilactic shock several times. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
