scmn | I will say after losing a sale or two, one supplier asked me why, I said I asked for best price and he was underbid. He came back he could have done better. I said I asked for best price, not starting price. After that, his bids were always very competetive...
I have found this to be true with a lot of things, but especially vehicles. Had a dealer that lost a sale 18 years ago and wanted to know why and I explained to him that I was not going to mess around with the back and forth, you get one chance to bid and thats that.
The last couple vehicles I have bought have been from them. On one they were not the cheapest bidder yet I went with them and told them they were not the lowest, but for $75 I had no problem keeping it local and was okay with their price. On another they beat the competition by quite a bit. Had I played the back and forth game I would have saved $75 on the one and likely paid xxx more for the other one. The best part is not having to haggle just give me a quote on xyz. |
