Ron, thank you to you and all who responded. I think we will probably handle things a little differently next time something similar happens. As it turns out pretty much everything she told us was a lie. She is actually a neighbor who we should have known but has changed a lot since we last saw her. She is a troubled teen who is going down the wrong path since her father passed away. Contacting the police might have helped get her the help she needs. 

Being a kind and caring person doesn’t always look the same.
