In my 27 years of working odd hours for a major road construction company, I've seen a lot of weird things and been approached by the strangest people I've ever seen. I always think of the worst scenario. I've never been robbed, shot at, had a gun pulled on me, or jumped. Coworkers have had all of the above happen to them. I always expect it, at work and not at work. There a lot of weird and sick people out there. Any stranger that approaches me has to prove themself from the start.
Calling the cops would be a good choice, but here they wouldn't have the time or resources to respond.
