| Just my opinion on this, but I doubt land prices or rents would much if any if government shut off the payment stream. Some places maybe a little other places a wash. Farm payments (including subsidized insurance) keep the < 2,000 acres farms in business, for the most part (probably some own all their land and no debt and they would be an exception) .
But whatever secret sauce that makes a 30,000 acre farmer (well over payment limits except insurance) on his way to +50,000 acres would still be there ie seed business, machinery dealership, laundering money for Medellin drug cartel ECT would still be intact and they would easily absorb anyone not making it with out farm programs. And yes I know the Medellin drug laundering comment offends some, but you gotta admit all this crazy gravity defying money out there is a head scratcher. | |
