northeastern Ohio | Off road diesel. I have 2 suppliers that are fighting for business in the area. I always give them both a chance. Send a text to one and have to call the other.
I get a text back from first supplier: $3.9934
I immediately call second supplier. Woman answers and says $4.14. Before I can say anything, she says she is transferring me to the owner because he will give me a better price. Owner answers and immediately says $3.79. I tell him to bring it out.
A couple minutes later, first supplier calls. I tell him he got beat this time, thanks. He immediately wants to price match and wants to know other supplier price. I told him I don't play that game. One chance, low price wins. He wasn't happy.
It was just the opposite when I filled up in Feb. First supplier was 20 cents cheaper than #2 at that time. I filled up in Feb for $2.44
What does everyone else do? Go with one supplier or low price wins everytime?
And as a side note: taxes on road diesel are 71 cents (24 cent federal + 47 cent Ohio), but the cheapest price in town is $5.88 | |
