SW MN | Why does having a free phone equate to wealth and spending? You do realize that you really should never have to pay for a phone unless you break it out of warranty. I have been with Verizon for 20+ years, and I just wait for their free upgrade offers to get a phone. Add a line, get a phone. For $25/Month I can get a free phone. Is $300 a year frivolous spending? Maybe but what does a landline cost? The lack of landlines in most places nowadays, we rely on cell phones for our younger kids to have a phone to be able to reach in case of emergency, or after school activity, pickups etc.
I always laugh when people look a cell phone as some sort of luxurious, frivolous expenditure that should only be had by certain segments of the population. Everything we do nowadays is connected to that phone - insurance, banking, weather, news, texting, email, internet, etc. Maybe these people forgo having $100/M in television/cable costs to have that phone. | |
