I don’t think it is a stretch at all for me to say that had I said he was wrong back then I would have been told he was the expert.
It happened recently too. I very clearly remember lots of conversations on here where I disputed what Fauci said and I was told to trust the expert. I was even taunted for apparently thinking I knew more than the expert. What was actually happening was I was listening to other experts dispute what Fauci said. When I mentioned that I was almost invariably told that they were quacks. I don’t know what side of that you were on, I have my suspicions but I will leave it at that.
The problem isn’t that people don’t trust experts. The problem is that we are told to only trust experts that have the same message and agenda and that any expert that disagrees is a quack. That is a very important difference.
But that is in the past. Looking forward I suspect I will have a chance to once again point out the same flawed logic and the same people will argue that my expert is just a quack and that I should “follow the science”.
