1.450 million bought by a single buyer (farmer) from 40 miles away. Second farm this person has bought in this area and was high bidder on a third tract that went no sale in another auction. The home county borders Ohio where there are tons of poultry and that money bleeds across the state line and has driven land prices out of site in Jay county. Also a lot of wind and solar development in Jay county contributes to the run up in prices.
I have said for years this is what was going to happen with the energy investment and would drive up land prices in areas without that money and it coming to fruition.
All we need now is the Amish to deal a death blow to local farmers trying to buy land and they are coming.
