Ma Bell worked, at least I think, because it basically broke it up into a bunch of companies that had their own territories. They weren't necessarily competing against one another, at least not at first. But look how things are consolidating now in the Cell phone world. And I'm not sure that something like the breaking up of Standard Oil into a bunch of smaller companies would be synonymous with taking an industry that has consolidated because of financial advantages and trying to redistribute it. I mean, Standard Oil was basically the only game in town because of the period in which they started. "We can get rid of a bunch of regulations and rules that create barriers to entry while also taking some general policy stances on things that are overall bad for America as a whole." And see, this is just meaningless pablum. Get rid of which regulations and rules? Worker safety? Environmental safety? Who chooses? Who decides what's good or bad for America is a whole? Are date centers and AI a good thing or a bad thing? When will we know for sure? Who decides?
