Subject: Ameren utility supplier price increase

Chebanse, IL.....

Ameren is a electric supplier in this area of NE IL. I have them for a supplier at my house. Following is a copy/paste of a legit email received from them yesterday. I've never seen this type of notice from them in the 35+ years we've had their service. Note they say "due to a shortage of electricity available...". Well, this sure isn't good. We have windmills everywhere. We now have solar farms going in everywhere. There's probably more solar farms under construction right now than has existed totally in the last 5 years. We really don't have any data centers close to us, or relatively so anyway.

So, what's next? I also realize there will be some that will see these rates as dirt cheap compared to what they pay. This is a 25% increase in one jump. I'm not sure why their rates won't go up also. More of the message in the email told you how to conserve electricity.....if someone needs to have that explained.

Copy/Paste from Ameren:

Notice of Price Change

To Residential Ameren Illinois customers:

We want to inform you of a change in the price of electricity that will impact your electric bills this summer. Starting June 1, the price of electric supply for customers on the Ameren Illinois Basic Generation Service rate will temporarily increase from 8.769 cents per kwh to about 11 cents per kWh.

The summer price of electricity remains historically high because there is a shortage of electricity available to meet demand in the Ameren Illinois service territory on days when temperatures are high and energy use at home increases.

Ameren Illinois doesn’t control or profit from electricity market prices or fees, despite those costs being included on your Ameren Illinois monthly bill.
