Middlesex County, Ontario | We have a 2 story chicken house where the downstairs ceiling is joists and spray foamed. We needed to triple up a bunch of joists for a modular loading retrofit and had to cut a lot of narrow slits into spray foam to wedge the additional joists in. Here's how I would do it.
Snap a chalk line.
Use a big kitchen knife from a thrift store to cut/score the foam down to the wall below.
Use an oscillating multi tool with the widest blade you can find to shave the foam off the wall.
In my case we didn't use a chalk line, we just hose clamped a block to the kitchen knife to bring it the appropriate amount off the existing joists. We did hundreds of them, overhead, wasn't fun. |
