The media was able to get a fairly large segment of the population upset when DOGE found grifting that was going on for much less important causes. DOGE would have been a much easier time convincing the public that it was finding the corruption that was bad, not the corruption itself, if it got involved in something like defence spending.
Already spent $80 billion on Iran....
